Poland Reports Increase in Measles Cases

(MENAFN) A rapidly escalating measles outbreak has gripped southeastern Poland, with confirmed infections climbing to 26 cases across the Podkarpackie region, health authorities announced Tuesday.

The regional State Sanitary Inspectorate disclosed the alarming surge—eight new cases documented within just four days—as the highly contagious disease spreads through three counties, media reported.

"The State Sanitary Inspectorate is conducting an epidemiological investigation in order to interrupt the spread of the disease and to provide epidemiological supervision to people who have direct contact with cases of the disease," the inspectorate said.

The current cluster initially surfaced in late November, media reported, with 15 additional infections emerging in the subsequent week—signaling an aggressive transmission pattern that has prompted urgent containment efforts from public health officials.
